Josh Richards Appointed to Serve as Chairman of North Idaho College’s Aerospace Technology Advanced Manufacturing Technical Advisory Committee

HAYDEN, IDAHO, October 22, 2019 – Unitech Composites, a Unitech Aerospace company and leading supplier of complex laminates and panels for the aerospace and defense industry, is pleased to announce that Josh Richards, Director of Operations, has been appointed to serve as the Chairman of the Aerospace Technology Advanced Manufacturing Technical Advisory Committee at North Idaho College. The objective of the committee is to incorporate active input from local aerospace companies to shape the curriculum of the Aerospace Technology Advanced Manufacturing program to best equip students with the skills that employers need.

“The program’s success is vital to Unitech and we have a longstanding history in employing graduates,” said Joyce Hauges, Vice President and General Manager of Unitech Composites. “We’ve found that graduates of this program have a mind that is calibrated to learning, a solid grasp of manufacturing methods and understand the importance of quality in the aerospace industry. Josh is the ideal candidate to serve in this capacity as he has a passion for training, education and the industry.”

“Being chosen to serve in this position is a great honor and truly is a mutually beneficial relationship,” said Richards. “I get to help a program stay in tune with what manufacturers are doing and what they need to be successful. In return, the program produces potential employees who are ahead of their peers and don’t require such a significant investment to be effective.”

North Idaho College’s Aerospace Technology Advanced Manufacturing program prepares students for entry-level employment in aerospace manufacturing specifically pertaining to composite fabrication and repair, quality assurance methods, CNC machine operation and non-destructive testing and inspection. Students receive hands-on working knowledge from a qualified instructor in a lab setting. Unitech donates material to the program; mostly prepreg and partially finished goods. The students use the prepreg to practice manufacturing methods and learn repair methods on the partially finished goods.
